#throwbackpoem: Oh, Prodigal

to GOD be the GLORY

~ Oh, Prodigal ~

By Deborah Ann

Oh, prodigal
what made you roam
how did you wander
so far from home?

What led you away,
from the Truth and Life
what took you on the path
to everlasting strife?

Oh, prodigal,
what made you stray
who enticed you off
the straight narrow way.

What convinced you,
from God you could hide
what seduced you onto
the road broad and wide?

Oh prodigal,
what made you roam . . .
God won’t give up on you
until your back home!

Matthew 18:12-13

How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep,
and one of them be gone astray, doth he not
leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into
the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you,
he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety
and nine which went not astray.
