~ Trying Times ~

Trying times follow,
times of sweet relief
they come to destroy
our trust and belief.
For satan knows so well,
when we are at rest . . .
it’s the opportune time
to launch his fiery tests.
Tying times follow,
times of peacefulness
they come to disrupt
in God our faithfulness.
For satan understands,
when we are tranquil
it’s his ideal time
our faith to mangle.
Trying times follow,
times of blissfulness
but we who remain sober
do so with steadfastness!

Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom
he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith,
knowing that the same afflictions
are accomplished in your brethren
that are in the world.
