#throwbackpoem: On The Edge of Despair

to GOD be the GLORY

~ On The Edge of Despair ~

By Deborah Ann

I have been on the edge,
of complete, utter despair
I’ve looked over the ledge
not knowing what was there.

I’ve felt the bitter cold,
wrap me in it’s fearful grip
but, God had on me a hold
making sure I wouldn’t slip.

I have been to the threshold,
of total desperation
I’ve felt darkness enfold me
with fear and trepidation.

I’ve sensed the loom of doom,
engulf me with pure terror
but, God in the grasp of gloom
quelled my state of horror.

I have been on the edge,
of utter hopelessness
but, as I was on the ledge . . .
Jesus healed my brokenness!

~~~~~~~
2 Corinthians 4.8-10
We are troubled on every side,
yet not distressed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken;
cast down, but not destroyed;
Always bearing about in the body
the dying of the Lord Jesus,
that the life also of Jesus might
be made manifest in our body.
Psalm 34:17-19
The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth,
and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is nigh unto them that are
of a broken heart; and saveth such
as be of a contrite spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
