I got me this thing,
it’s stuck in my side
it looks just like . . .
the thorn of pride.
It’s making me feel,
rather unconformable
it’s making me weak
to satan vulnerable.
It’s bringing me down,
not in a humble way
I’m more haughty
the longer it stays.
It’s a disgrace to me,
so full of arrogance
it makes me believe
in my own intelligence.
I got me this thorn,
its got me feeling low
I know it’s my pride . . .
and God wants it to go!

And lest I should be exalted above
measure through the abundance of
the revelations, there was given
to me a thorn in the flesh,
the messenger of Satan to buffet me,
lest I should be exalted above measure.
